WANT TO BE HAPPY?
Our default state of being is to be happy. Young children playing are routinely happy - until something makes them unhappy
So, happiness is the absence of unhappiness.
To understand happiness, we must first understand unhappiness, to remove it.
Understand Your Brain.
Don’t listen to everything you think!
Your thoughts are not you
Your brain is a functioning organ, just like your liver cleaning blood, and your heart pumping oxygen around the body. The brain too is an organ - it’s role is to process information and it’s main priority is for your survival.
Your survival! - This is why the brain looks for threats – either incessantly worrying about the future, or regretting past hurts – and rarely focusses on Now.
No question - Bad things happen to everyone - but it is your response to those events, which causes your unhappiness.
Often the brain will incessantly replay the pain of a past event, as a survival mechanism, so we will not repeat the pain – even if replaying that pain makes you unhappy. Similarly, to be anxious about future threats or failures, can dominate your peace and happiness – causing you to be unhappy.
Control your thoughts?
Successful authors try to teach us techniques to control our thoughts to avoid painful incessant negative thoughts. But although there is a universal desire for peace and contentment in our thoughts, and many books are bought with the hope of a solution – in practice, controlling every negative thought, using mental exercises, takes a lot of effort and practice.
Some solutions cultivate a permanent state of ‘non-thinking’, while others encourage us to ask the brain for a different thought please, or else engage with some experiential activity to distract our thoughts, since the brain can only think of one thing at a time. The techniques can be useful, but they are not ideal.
One best-selling author cleverly points out that there is confusion about what makes us happy, and many people look for it in the wrong place.
In particular, there is a big difference between FUN and HAPPINESS, since our brain can only think of one thing at a time, fun distracts our brain from the incessant negative thoughts for a while, whereas happiness and peace is to have no unhappy thoughts to be avoiding.
Fun then, is a temporary escape from unhappiness. This explains the increasing desire of many people, for alcohol, drugs, partying or whatever … which don’t solve the problem of unhappiness, which is simply waiting for the temporary escape of fun to end, for the incessant negative thoughts to return.
However, these authors leave out a fundamental ingredient from their ‘self-help’ methods for finding peace and happiness – the God factor. Even though words like soul, infinity, divinity and demons may be mentioned in passing – they are not joined up in a coherent and effective worldview of how things work.
This is a Spiritual World
Most people recognise that there are spiritual things in the world, and most people believe in some kind of Creator Being, though they don’t know what to do with that insight – which religion is true, what is right and wrong, where are my loved ones who died … etc.
All the main religions agree that there is one God, and although He has given different revelations of Himself to different religions, there is one common thread running through all faiths, and none – the Human Conscience, and the Law of Love by which it operates.
Notice, when you do something unkind to someone, you will feel uneasy about that later in your quiet moments ‘There is no peace for the wicked’. But if you do a kindness for someone, you will often feel a glow of joy and peace in your heart – ‘Peace to men of good will’.

Detail: Since the voice of God is so close to us in our Conscience, as to interact with our thoughts and decisions, according to our actions each day, (“My sheep hear My voice” says the Word of God, made man – Jesus) … where is that voice, when we are troubled by negative thoughts?
Well if ‘God is Love’, and the Kingdom of God is a Kingdom of Love, then we must be aware that there is another voice, another spiritual power in the world: Satan and other evil spirits called demons, which hate mankind, and try to destroy people with incessant negative thoughts, temptations, compulsions, addictions, and even possessions. This voice is one of the Accuser, of hatred, envy, lust, anger, slander and murder. Dangerous eh!!
Realising that powerful entities have a target on you, and conspire to entrap you in separation from God and His peace (which the world cannot give), also called sin, should enlighten our worldview with truth that can set you free.
Simply bringing God into any situation, brings guidance, wisdom and protection – demons run.
So realising that demons have access to your thoughts, which they influence with temptations and whispers of envy, lust, pride etc… when we see this influence into our painful incessant thoughts, driving us crazy and making us depressed, hopeless, and fearful - we may recognise a pattern, and a culprit?
Since the Youth Generation have thrown out God as an irrelevance for them, while not realising that they are left with no protection from the demonic enemy of Man, many are now trying to find happiness with their selfish animal passions of the 7 deadly sins (pride, greed, anger, envy, lust, gluttony and laziness). These are all destructive and we lose our peace.
It was of course, the satanist Anton Le Vey who coined the phrase: ‘”Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole of the law!”
However, the bible also cautions: “There is no peace for the wicked, says the Lord.”
So, time to wake up then, God has decreed that those who act against His Law of Love, (10 Commandments) will not enjoy peace.
So if you desire to be happy, then have yourself a reality check, and be good – as guided by your conscience, not peer pressure, or media culture.
And if you can’t be good …. Ask God to help you!
Box 2 – Science Proves God … Finally!!
Secret Institutions in the world, which are sworn to destroy the Church, have conspired to influence scientists and the media, to claim that Darwin’s Evolutionary THEORY of species becoming other species is a proven FACT.
Several hoaxes have been arranged, and discredited, ‘chimp to man’ images remain in school textbooks, and ape/man displays persist in Museums – yet Darwin’s Species-Change theory is now widely rubbished by Scientific discoveries.

Strong evidence of a Creator lies in the improbable mathematics of probability to sustain life on the Earth and the surrounding Universe.
Further evidence of how we are connected to a source of information outside time and space, comes from research at the HeartMath Institute, who found that the Human Heart is a receptor for future knowledge or intuition, when in certain conditions (being still, focus on your heart and adopt a loving or appreciative frame of mind), then the heart could anticipate a random future event 4-7 seconds before the event occurred. Women consistently performed more accurately in these tests measuring intuition.
The scientists concluded that the Heart is connected to a source of information outside time and space.
Box 3 – Life Options for Happy and Secure
Recognising that there is an inbuilt moral judge in ach of our hearts, from our Conscience, measuring us according to the ‘Law of Love’ - is a fundamental understanding of what we are, how we work, and what will make us happy by the absence of unhappiness.
Despite his stated belief that there is no divine intervention into the world, despite it being created by God, Mo Gawdat does conclude that the way to happiness is by doing good for other people. This gives the recipient a real buzz feeling of happiness.
In his beautiful book, sharing his profound insights and tragic losses, Gawdat introduces his book ’Solve For Happy’ by stating that he does not intend to describe happiness, but instead to try to avoid the unhappiness which spoils our happiness. He does a good job, but all the teaching of techniques and attitudes that he describes, rely on you controlling your own negative thoughts – whenever they may surface, with your own emotional and psychological effort.
But God could help massively!!
A book was written with an intriguing title: ‘What is Good – The Search for the Best Way to Live’ by A.C. Grayling.
It begins however, by explaining that the author has decided to leave out any mention of God, from this consideration, which of course seriously minimises the value of the book, since:
“ Every good come from God” Js 1:17.
Similarly, for Mo Gawdat to exclude God from his consideration of the pursuit of happiness and healing is a significant omission from such a big question – What is happiness?
If a Creator God does not exist, then by all means, let us try to manage our life traumas and wounds, with love and techniques, in any way that can help our pain – in our own strength.
But if there genuinely is, a very powerful Creator God, who sent His Word to us in the form of a man called Jesus the Messiah (or Christ), to teach us how God works, then we immediately see that 70% of the Gospels filled with stories of Jesus, are about Him healing people.
His followers were so much living in happiness and peace, that if they were not received well in a place where they blessed the occupiers with peace, they were to kick the dust off their feet, and their peace would return to them. Their peace was a major influencer and guide of their behaviour.
In the Torah, or Injil – “The Lord will fight for you, while you have only to hold your peace.” Exodus 14:14
After decades of research, Fr Adrian Van Kaam composed a schematic for understanding our human condition, and the spheres of influence which influence our choices and our happiness<
When we consider the 4 main spheres of influence on us: Our relationships, Media influences, Our internal processing and our immediate situation, and place ourself as the controller of all these areas, many with aspects we cannot control – then we are very likely to feel overwhelmed and fearful.
However, when we place God in the middle of all these spheres of influence, asking and trusting that He will influence all these areas of input to us, we can more readily find the peace that only God can give.
Happiness is found, only when all these areas of your life are reconciled and at peace – and if one area if dissonant or uneasy, then we should go out of our way to bring harmony and peace to that area.
Bringing God into all these areas, and trusting that He wants the best for you, will quickly bring happiness, peace and contentment into your life.
Relationships Formation: (These have the potential to have the greatest influence on us, and by us)
Past –
To interpret your past through God’s eyes, knowing that He can turn everything into good for you, is to understand the constructive aspects of any negative events:
All things work together for good, for those who love the Lord’
You are a spiritual being. There is a spiritual battle taking place on the Earth – fighting over you, and your happiness – each side influencing you in your thoughts, decisions, and your actions.
No matter what has occurred in your past, good, bad or terrible, you will be formed by it – shaped as a person journeying through life and the world, strengthened by trials and difficulties to help others, but there are often deep wounds and broken hearts which remain.
He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to set captives free
There will have been moments when your Guardian Angel inspired or nudged you to a safe place; and other times when you ignored those intuitive warning signs, and found yourself in a bad situation which you regret.
God’s Drastic Big Plan to Save Souls
God wants everyone to be good and make it to Heaven and avoid eternal damnation – this life is just a testing ground of our formation - hence we see peace is promised to people who desire to do good (good will) by following their clear conscience:
“Peace to men of good will”
And otherwise, such peace and contentment will be denied to those who do not try to do good but what is bad:
“There is no peace, says the Lord, for the wicked”
Conscience – God’s Law of Love written in every person’s heart is unchangeable, and life teaches us that whenever we act against this Law, we will lose our peace and happiness. This loss of peace and happiness happens, even if we rationalise and justify our bad behaviour – our quiet moments will still be troubled.
As we get older, we usually ‘get it’ and learn the lesson, and so avoid this disquiet in our quiet moments, and loss of peace and happiness, by doing what gives us peace, being good – which also makes us feel warm and joyful.
Forming our Conscience, is a misnomer, we don’t form the truth – but instead we form our values of behaviour, in the light of our immoveable Conscience – which then gives us pleasure or pain.
Before an action, our Conscience guides us to know what the ‘good’ option is; After an action, our Conscience will again remind you of the ‘good’ option, with pleasure or pain (disquiet or joy). But in between these reminders, your Conscience leaves you free to exercise your free will.
To ‘be good’ then, is to follow your Conscience – which is the Voice of God. We recall Jesus the Word of God made flesh, saying:
My sheep hear My Voice
And so, God as a loving Father of all mankind, has arranged to connect parents and children closely, also using the strong love bond between them, as leverage to ensure their wellbeing and happiness.
A parent’s prayers for their children are very powerful; A father’s blessing upon his child carries great weight in the spiritual world, and the first Commandment with a promise is for children to:
“Honour your mother and father, so that it will go well with you and you will have a long life in the land.”
There is also a second Commandment which links parents to their children in a very important way – God’s Command number 1 – top of the list of instructions…
You are to serve or worship no other entity except God, because God knows, if you do, Evil powers will mess you up – big time!!
So, to prevent the serious risk to your peace, happiness and future damnation, God promises to inflict punishment upon innocent children for their ancestors’ sins, down to the 3rd or 4th generation (those they may live to see affected) of the adult sinning
For I am a jealous God, inflicting punishment for their ancestors’ wickedness on the children of those who hate Me, down to the third and fourth generation; but showing love down to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep my commandments.”
THIS IS GOD’S BIG PREVENTIVE PLAN TO STOP ADULTS SINNING – USE THEIR LOVE FOR THEIR CHILDREN TO SAVE THEM FROM HELL.
This comes as a shock to many people, who believe that a loving God would never afflict an innocent child, but God sees the bigger picture, and this decree from God has been written, unchanged, as Commandment Number One - for thousands of years.
“Until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.”
[During the last century, the different Faiths have all forgotten to teach this Big Preventive Plan of God: to punish children for their parents sins, Jews from the Torah; Muslims from the Tawrah, and Christians from the Torah and Gospels. This was due to confusion – which has since been clarified, about a verse in the book of Ezekiel.]
It is important to point out that not all disease or failure is due to the effects of parental sin, since Jesus taught that a man had been born blind so that God’s works may be seen in him.
“Jesus saw a man who had been blind since birth. His disciples asked him: ‘Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he be born blind?’ Jesus replied: Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him’.
But before anyone is tempted to make a Gospel out of a verse here, we notice that Jesus did not correct the premise of their question regarding generational effects of sin, and Jesus even repeats their words. Also, in a later parable Jesus even uses this principle of parental sin affecting his children:
“A debtor… Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife, and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.”
So, God has decreed that those who follow His Law (the Law of Love itemised in the Commandments), will be blessed in all that they do, including health and contentment.
God has also decreed that those who don’t follow His Law of Love will not be blessed, experiencing failure, ill-health and loss.
The temptations from Evil are trying to get you to break God’s Law, so that then God’s decree is enacted and the Devil can legally oppress you – also your children to the 3rd or 4th Generation, as a deterrent from you sinning. I know, not fair on the children, but then neither is you spending an eternity in Hell.
[Note: The good news about realising that a curse is operating in your life, is that this influence is already happening anyway – and by realising what is going on, you can break the curse and change your life to one of health and well-being. Blessing or Curse, you can choose?]
Having said this, many saints suffered painful disease and injustice, and we realise that sacrifice e.g. fasting or offering up some sickness or discomfort, is a powerful currency in the spiritual realm, adding power and blessings to your life and your family.

Box 4 – Making Decisions for a Good Life
(Maybe a strategy to lead about Conscience in all Nations and Religions?)
Every day we make decisions. Many of these are intuitive, not necessarily calculated reasoning : “I feel like going for a walk”; “I fancy an ice cream”; “Maybe I will phone my sister?”
This intuition, research suggests is heart-based – something of a ‘gut feeling’ – somewhere in our middle anyway. Our mind will process this idea, then agree and if possible, arrange to do it.
A common phrase across all people is to “Be good!”
But who is to know, what ‘good’ is? Certainly in any dictionary good is categorised in a long list, what it is describing – Good weather means fine weather; Good results bring success; Good research brings new findings… etc
But in regards to human behaviour, the phrase ‘Be Good!’ invariably refers to a universal code of moral behaviour, common to every Nation and Race and apparently established deep in our heart, called a Conscience.
Study of how your Conscience works in us is fascinating:
Firstly your Conscience is entirely geared around a Law of Love. When you do something unkind to someone, in your quiet moments, your conscience will cause you disquiet, even if you felt justified about your action at the time.
Similarly, when you do a kindness for some person, you feel warm and joyful afterwards.
Each of these sensations are not thoughts, but uncontrollable sensations, appearing ‘out of the blue’ as if from outside us.
Conscience has 3 timings of influence: before you perform a negative action, during and after that action:
1. Before we perform an action involving another person or persons, your conscience will loudly influence your reasoning to know if the action we are planning is good or bad, according to this Law of Love, by which it operates.
We may rationalise that this action will be okay, but we will still have doubts or second thoughts about whether we are doing the right thing.
2. As we perform the action, we are often oblivious of the moral messaging of our Conscience as we ‘push ahead’ with our self-interested plan, or ‘act on impulse’ , even against our better judgement.
3. After the event or action, your Conscience will loudly influence your inner peace and happiness. Even if we rationalised that our action was okay, out of the blue your Conscience will
4. If the action we did was against the Law of Love, by which the Conscience operates, our quiet moments will be troubled, and our peace and happiness is lost. This inner conviction is not our reasoning, but comes, often ‘out of the blue’, reminding us that we were rather rude to that waitress, or unkind to our work colleague.
If the action we did was a kindness to someone, then invariably we will feel happy and joyful afterwards, often with an inner glow of warmth, that is not from our own thoughts, but seemingly from ‘out of the blue’.
Even cruel people who have crushed their Conscience to rationalise their actions, will lose their peace and happiness, because in their quiet moments, like a relentless judge, their Conscience will surface to remind them of their actions with unease.
The Conscience is widely recognised to be the Voice of God calling you back to your peace and happiness.
This all relates to your standing before God and His unmoveable Law of Love, which He has written on the heart of every person. Ignore this Law if you choose, but it is unrelenting and will loudly influence your happiness and peace.
Jesus summarised the 10 Commandments into just two Great Commandments:
1. Love God – if you love Me you will obey My Commandments
2. and Love your neighbour - Treat other people as you would like to be treated.
And so, that explains why we feel bad if we are mean to someone, and happy if we are kind. God is not up on a cloud somewhere, He is closely involved in your life and your thoughts.
‘My sheep hear My voice’
For a person to ‘form their Conscience’ describes the formation of values that a person accepts for themselves and their future conduct.
However, this phrase is misleading, since the ‘good’ values of the Conscience do not change – you just decide if you will conform to it’s values, bringing happiness and a ‘clear Conscience’, or if you ignore the vales of our Conscience, you will lose your peace and happiness in our quiet moments.
The formation of your value structure, by which you walk through life, will seriously influence your happiness, as you choose pain or pleasure from your Conscience operating deep in your heart.
‘Peace to men of good will’ …
‘There is no peace, says the Lord, for the wicked’
Since we are considering decision making, the Church has long recognised another function of this inner guiding force, deep in our hearts, as discernment for understanding God’s plan for us, when our options are not simple – using consolation and desolation.
Although extreme words, these refer to the vague impression of peace and positivity (consolation), when we are praying for God’s guidance, and deciding on something which God desires that we do; whereas if we feel uneasy, disquieted and not peaceful (desolation) about that same decision, then probably God does not desire that we do that action.
Also in a situation of making decisions, the counsel of others is often very useful: When others offer advice, you may also feel vaguely positive or negative regarding their advice, as your heart may guide you. Again, we need to pray, asking God for guidance – then listen.
Box 5 – ALL NATIONS – CHILDREN OF GOD
All Religions may be Righteous in God’s Eyes, but not all Equal
All who hold themselves to any God-honouring religion will be righteous in God’s eyes, but not necessarily assured of salvation. Those who die in the anointing of the Messiah/ the Christ - whereby God is intimately united with His Creation and with His creature, will be assured of salvation as those who live and die “in Christ”.
“And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 1Thes.4:17
Not every Christian lives in intimate union with God, so ‘in Christ’, and similarly not every Muslim lives a life submitted to God.
“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot or cold, I will spit you out of my mouth” Rev.3:16
(Islam means submission, and a Muslim is ‘one who is submitted’ to God)
The word ‘Christ’ is not Jesus’ surname, but His title - ‘Christ’ is the Greek version of the Hebrew: ‘Messiah’ – meaning ‘anointed one’. It was an acknowledgement of this universal nature of God’s union with His creation, modelled in the Word of God becoming flesh in the man Jesus, that caused the Christian church to use the title ‘Catholic’ meaning ‘Universal’ in the 3rd Century. The Roman Catholic Church may have overlooked this universality since that time.
The Qur’an also teaches that all the Divinely revealed books are to be honoured: the Tawrah, Zabur and Injil, and the book before the Qur’an – the Bible - not only the Qur’an.

In 2007 following the initiative ‘A Common Word’ Muslims are now permitted to read the Bible, which the Qur’an referred to, and was written to supplement. For 1400 years Muslims were not allowed to read the Bible, so referred to the Hadith, stories of Muhammad as a guide.
Now that the Bible is again available for Muslims to refer to, we may wonder when the Divinely inspired Bible will be used authoritatively, instead of the anecdotal stories of historical Bedouin life in the Hadith, collected 100-200 years after the death of Muhammad?
The context for all the Religions in the world, and all people wondering ‘Why do I exist?”, can be understood in the original story of Creation and the Fall of Man – and the journey back to God since that time.
Adam and Eve were created to be individual personalities, who live in intimate union with the Will of God. But when they disobeyed God’s instruction, they broke the connection with God and His Divine Will. All their offspring since inherited that state of separation.
Since that time then, God has particularly noticed any of His children who obey what they believe to be God’s Will, and not their selfish will … even amongst people of different Religions or none, because that is exactly what caused the separation between God and man in the first place.
God established a Divine Principle in His relationship with Abraham, which is detailed in Romans chapter 4, and relates exactly to this time in history:
Because Abraham believed and trusted God, he was reckoned to be justified (aka righteous) in God’s eyes and cleansed from all his sins.
This ‘Romans 4 Principle’ causes us to look around at every person who holds themselves to a God-centred religion of some kind, honouring and believing God in whatever form they understand to be true … that those people of that ‘other Religion’ than yours, are reckoned by God to be righteous and without any sin.
In support of this understanding, we recall God’s Commandment to honour your mother and father. Such a Commandment from God will inevitably cause all children to adopt their parents’ system of belief in God, and whatever their Religion happens to be.
Therefore, to be brought up with Christian or Muslim parents, and to then be a good Christian or good Muslim, will be reckoned to be righteous and sinless in God’s eyes… and obeying His Divine Will, as it is understood to be.
This Romans 4 Principle, demonstrated by Abraham in the Torah, is a prophetic insight which should make every child of Abraham, every Jew, Christian and Muslim look at each other with new respect. If they stand blameless and righteous before God, what man will accuse them?
Abraham was not a Christian Catholic or Protestant; a Muslim Sunni or Shiah, nor a Jew Orthodox or secular, he just obeyed God with faithful obedience – he did what God asked of him and was reckoned sinless in God’s eyes.
Furthermore, the Book of Romans also explains that people of no Religion, who set themselves a code of moral conduct (guided by their Conscience) and adhere to their own law of Natural Justice, will also be reckoned by God to be righteous and sinless.
Those who God condemns, are the lukewarm who know the Law of Love, yet ignore it; and those who give themselves no law of conduct or morality, but are lawless rebels.
All Religions try to relate to the Creator as they understand Him, and honour Him in different ways with respective Religions in particular Countries, depending on the history of the Country.
The Qur’an makes a valid observation:
“And if Allah had willed, He could have made you of one religion, but He causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do. (Surah An-Hahl 93) (16:93)
When we look, God has indeed allowed numerous religions in the world, each with a different revelation of God.

Can they all be true – is God equally pleased by them all…?
Well to a certain extent yes.
The Romans 4 Principle states that when Abraham ‘believed God’ with faithful obedience, God declared him to be justified or righteous in God’s eyes and sinless.
These will not necessarily enter Heaven, but will be judged before the White Throne and the resurrection of the just ??????
We may expect them all to be judged according to how much they loved others and were kind.

Unfortunately, the Religions of the world have become proud and intolerant of each other, even intentionally misrepresenting exaggerated differences between each other – causing greater intolerance and division. History has seen Christians fighting Christians, Muslims fighting Muslims, and so on, with routine contempt for other religions, or even variations within religious observance.
When all Religions and Nations realise that God is gracious and speaking to everyone, also those in other Religions, then who are we to hate and attack those people, when God Himself is kind and benevolent to them?
The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want.
In green pastures he makes me lie down,
To still waters he leads me;
He restores my soul.
He guides me along right paths for the sake of his name.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
And your rod and staff comfort me.
You set a table before me in front of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Indeed, goodness and mercy will pursue me
All the days of my life.
I will dwell in the house of the Lord for endless days.
Psalm 23
The Psalm (Zabur) written 1000 years before Jesus and 1600 years before Muhammad, says that God is benevolent to David, reckoned by God to be a just or righteous man – not a Christian, Muslim or Jew…
“The Lord dealt with me [David] according to my righteousness; according to the cleanliness of my hands he rewarded me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord and have not wickedly departed from my God “ (2Sam.22:21,22)
All One Family Before God
Recognising that God cares for, shepherds and guides His children – all people of the world - with both their Conscience and other guidance, brings us all universally to a potential Formational Theology, realising God’s guidance and formation of those who listen to His Voice, instead of an Interpretational Theology – comparing and interpreting their different sacred books, and attacking everyone who differs with us.
When asked to teach his followers a formal prayer, the Word of God made man (Jesus/ Isa), taught us to pray: “Our Father ….”
And Father God, who created every soul as being unique and special, calls us all ‘My son, or daughter’
– How can we believe then, that we are doing God’s work, by attacking His children, who stand blameless and sinless before Him – just as Abraham demonstrated earlier with God’s Romans 4 Principle?
Box 6 – Freedom From Peer Pressure and Social Media
It is a basic safety response for any individual to stay close to the herd, for security against any threats. But if the herd is itself, running towards danger, then the wise move, would be to step back and reconsider this routine attachment to the herd.
The people who invented the Apps for mobile phones, deliberately designed them to be addictive, and even they were surprised at how successful they proved to be. Mobile phones have become a major part of the life of most people, especially the Younger Generation.
Relationships have changed across the world now, with many people pressured by what the rest of ‘the herd’ seems to be doing, in a most unhealthy way, with the potential to pressure people to mimic and conform to behaviour which is guaranteed to make them unhappy - seeking temporary ‘fun’ instead of long-term peace and happiness.
No wonder the majority of our Young People are unhappy, depressed and anxious – craving ‘fun’ as a temporary escape from their incessant unhappy thoughts, in quiet moments.
Teenage years have always been a time of uncertainty and hesitation, but Social Media exaggerates this uncertainty in a misleading way that is not the truth.
Let us consider some of the pressures on those who engage with Social Media platforms:
1. The Highlight Reel
– Everyone presents their best photos and moments onto a public platform, projecting a happy and enjoyable life as routine to everyone else. It shows no negatives, or down-side to life, only wonderful happiness.
For people whose life is normal, and even difficult, seeing this display of highlights presented as routine by others, makes them feel even worse about their life, imagining that they are inferior and deficient somehow.
In truth, nobody’s life is like the Highlight Reel, and those who are frequently seeking and displaying ‘fun’ moments, are in fact unhappy themselves, needing the approval of others. Following these ‘attractive’ people into drugs, alcohol, partying and casual sex, will only make you as unhappy as they are.
Happy people don’t need to parade their photos, and all their private business, in public to gain approval from strangers.
2. Social Currency
On Social Media platforms, like Facebook and others, there is considerable pressure to conform to the ‘herd’ norms. If you get likes and reposts, you feel good and accepted by others, and if you don’t, you feel rejected and unliked. If you present views different from the collective group, you may be ignored or bullied.
This measuring of yourself to the opinions of others in such a public way, is unwise and dangerous, because it pressures you to conform to values and behaviour which you would not choose yourself.
3. FOMO – Fear of Missing Out
- To not be in touch with your contact group on Social Media for any significant time, causes anxiety in case something significant has happened, or you have been mentioned in any way on a public platform.
- Such fear causes insecurity and inferiority, as we imagine the worse, so our Mobile Phone will be quickly checked if we have been away from the public
platform for any length of time.
Combined with little physical contact with friends and associates, the Social Media platform becomes our main contact with the rest of the world, so likes and approval on such a public platform can become important to our self-esteem, and sense of worth.
Some steps to resist the Peer Pressure of Social Media:
a) Recognise the unreal and unfair pressure on you, and the direction in which you are being pushed for acceptance.
b) Develop a strong image of how special and unique you are. We all have some unique strengths, and you are ‘the one and only’ you.
c) Find friends of a similar thinking to you and encourage each other
d) You could still use Social Media to obtain news updates, but recognise the false ‘Highlight Reel’ and the insecurity of those who need to gain approval from others often.
e) Be aware that to be more private and mysterious, is to be more intriguing and attractive to people. Whereas, when everyone knows all your business, you lose intrigue and respect, also freedom to be yourself, without being judged and pressured.
f) You don’t really need ‘likes’ from unhappy insecure people, who just want you to be like them, when you can enjoy the superiority and security of knowing that God appreciates, guides and protects you.
Placing the approval of other people, above what you know God and your Conscience want you to do, is to have an Idol that you serve instead of God – which will cause you to quickly lose your peace.
Be always guided by your heart – God’s Mobile Phone – and not fear or bullying to conform to the herd’s Peer Pressure norms, if they will cause you to lose your happiness and peace.
People only have as much power over you, as you give them. Don’t give them power over you.
Box 7 – Sex – Joined as One for Your Lifetime.
God has decreed that the sexual act forms a solemn blood covenant between two people, symbolised by the initial hymen bleeding during sexual initiation.
This covenant bond (‘covenant’ = a legal contract involving people) joins the two people spiritually long after the act is over.
“A man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate. Mk 10:7-9
This bond by which two people become one physically and spiritually, is so strong that it lasts a lifetime – designed to help the marriage union from separating. This is called a ‘godly soul tie’ in a marriage situation – and an ‘ungodly soul tie’ outside of marriage.
DANGERS
a) Because you become one with a sexual partner - if a former sexual partner subsequently becomes involved in any dangerous spiritual activity or influence at any time in the future, like witchcraft, or idolatry – or if demons of fear, depression, addiction, lust, hopelessness or suicide infest that other person, then because you are bonded to that person spiritually, their demons will be your demons, because of the solemn blood covenant between you, from that sexual act.
This can be a very unhealthy and troublesome source of big spiritual problems into your life. Be careful who you marry.
b) Pornography may seem harmless, but the Bible points out that if you lust after someone in your heart, then you have committed adultery with that person. That also means that you and that person will be joined by the blood covenant of sex, and an ungodly soul tie.
Since you become joined for life, you will also be joined to all the other people who have also lusted after that man or woman.
Once joined like this spiritually, as mentioned, this is a ready portal for bad spiritual forces to enter your life from another person, including the demon of lust.
c) Imagine a large network of young people, all with several previous sexual partners, all interconnected with demons of destruction like depression, hopelessness, lethargy, anger, fear and anxiety… take your pick – all these demons are free to move freely within that network of people all interjoined with ungodly soul ties.
Such a free-for-all for demons determined to afflict and destroy humans, in their hatred, would cause the Youth generation to suffer major spiritual afflictions, which will cause unhappiness and are very difficult to resist, without a spiritual solution.
d) Older people than our our present Young People, who lived since the ‘free-love’ Hippy era of the 1960’s, which coincided with the introduction of the contraceptive pill, may be married and settled now, but still covenant bonded spiritually to former sexual partners of decades ago.
Such a life-long spiritual bond, will still allow free-flow of demonic forces into your life.
Also, since the individual is spiritually bonded to more than their present spouse, this could also be a cause of divorce and marital problems, since their spiritual union with their partner is not exclusive, but shared with other people.
It is not an accident that sex is such a major part of the collapse of moral values and behaviour, since it is such a powerful spiritual act, and not simply like shaking hands.
Box 8 – The God Who Speaks to You Anywhere
You are a spiritual person, picking up spiritual signals, and this is a spiritual world. When you get a ‘gut feeling’ about something, or someone, it is not ‘chemistry’ but something spiritual that you are sensing.
Researchers in the HeartMath Institute in the US found that when you are looking at a dog for several minutes, without any touch or speech, just maintaining a loving attitude, then within minutes, the heartbeat of the dog was found to come into close sync with that of the person looking at them. The same results were found when a horse was used, so it seems animals can sense our mood, even from several feet away.
Of course, this kind of intuition also works between us humans too, and so often we get a feeling about someone good or bad, within seconds of first meeting them.
These same researchers have established that Heart Intuition in humans is a scientific phenomenon, which can be demonstrated, and yes – they found women are more accurate at this than men.
In particular, research subjects were shown a series of random computer images – some pleasant and sweet, and others were scary and unpleasant – these all flashed up in a random sequence.
In certain circumstances the heart was found to prepare itself for the negative image about to be displayed, 4-7 seconds before the image was seen – in a random computer programme.
The ‘certain circumstances’ when their intuition was more accurate, were three-fold:
Be still – calm breathing and relax
Focus on your heart
Put yourself in a loving or appreciative frame of mind
…then their intuition was at its most accurate.
But if the research subject did not place themselves in a loving frame of mind (self-distancing), the intuition was poor.
The scientists have concluded that there is no scientific explanation for this phenomenon, and that the human heart therefore seems to be connected to a source of information outside time and space.
Industry is very interested in this discovery, since so many decision in business are made from a gut feeling, whether when interviewing several candidates, or making business decisions anticipating the future. In one study, 32 serial entrepreneurs were looked at (repeatedly successful with innovative projects) and 31 of the 32 were found to be kind hearted and generous individuals. Presumably their Heart Intuition/ or gut feeling when in a kind demeanour, received input from ‘outside time and space’ which brought successful decisions.
Furthermore, these researchers have established that the Heart receives information much quicker than the brain, and that there is continual intuitive guidance coming from the heart, but it is just under the radar of our conscious awareness. Many therapists use this technique, whereby when seeking guidance in a complex therapy situation, they will listen to their heart prompting, from which they receive wisdom and guidance.
The human heart has long been recognised as the centre of wisdom, understanding, intuition, love and our deeper self in nations and cultures all over the world.
However, the Church has long been wary of trusting our Heart prompting, because the human heart is devious and not considered reliable, where self-interests or confusion may creep in.
But an exciting new Grace has been released from Heaven, which makes our listening to God’s guidance and inspirations much more easily – called the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
This powerful Grace, once received and ignited, makes our heart much more reliable when listening to God’s guidance and understanding.
To explain quickly, the Virgin Mary is a prototype of the union between God and mankind that restores us back to the state in which we were originally created.
Such a Grace brings a lifestyle of peace, joy and security, being nudged in our thoughts and inspirations by the Creator of the Universe, while also being protected and our relationships blessed.
Specifically, the Immaculate Heart of Mary is actually the Sacred Heart of Jesus – and Jesus, the Word of God, promises to indwell us in our heart, and communicate the Word of God to us, as guidance and intimate union. Your heart will become God’s Mobile Phone – reliable and life-changing.
“I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jer.29:11
Building on this awareness that we have a God Who Speaks and is intimately involved in our thoughts and actions, God is bringing mankind increasingly into the original union we had before the fall of Adam. This would fulfil the promise in the Lord’s Prayer:
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
The Unity Prayer which is part of the Flame of Love revelation, asks in detail for such a union with the Word of God – which only communicates God’s Divine Will – “Your Will be done”.
My adorable Jesus
May our feet journey together;
May our hands gather in unity;
May our hearts beat in unison;
May our souls be in harmony;
May our thoughts be as one;
May our ears listen to the silence together;
May our glances profoundly penetrate each other,
May our lip pray together to obtain mercy from the Eternal Father
Amen
This is a ‘gateway prayer’ and by praying this, you will receive the Flame of Love. Then you must ‘ignite’ this Flame, by engaging with the indwelling Word of God, Jesus, in the intimacy of your own heart. This will also bring about miracles deep in hearts, and the Grace of purity.
After a time of you relating to this indwelling Wisdom and Love, building trust and confidence in this Divine Source indwelling you, you will feel able to abandon yourself to God, and His Will, whose Word is indwelling you in intimate union.
A revelation which comes from the Flame of Love revelation, is to realise that God also speaks to us through ‘inspirations’ – spontaneous thoughts that pop into our mind without prior thinking – often as an ‘Ahah!’ moment in the shower, when driving, or some other time when we are quiet – just like our Conscience, these inspirations pop in – ‘out of the blue’.
Through history, some people, also when Jesus walked the earth, believed that this Kingdom of God would be an earthly Kingdom or Caliphate, where a potential leader will rule in God’s Name. But Jesus taught that God’s Kingdom is not of this world, but a spiritual Kingdom inside you and me.
Box 9 – The Enemy of Your Happiness
As established previously, you are a spiritual being, and this is a spiritual world.
Good and Evil exist … just look at the News reports.
In this spiritual battle, part of the tactics of Evil used against you and others, are as follows:
Ø Convince you that God is far from you, up on a cloud somewhere. In fact, He is very close to you, and talking to you each day, in your conscience, intuition (gut feeling) and spontaneous inspirations.
Ø Convince you that God hates sinners and will not forgive you for doing something terrible – you only have to ask. As in the parable of the prodigal son, who had been away from home – when the father saw him in the distance returning home ashamed, he ran down the road to welcome his son back home.
A lovely story demonstrating the nature of God in the father figure.
Ø Convince you that Satan and other evil spirits are not real – only a cartoon character, a joking figure.
But Evil is all too real – just see the News, or talk to the Exorcist Priest operating in every Diocese.
The spiritual world operates within your thoughts and feelings:
Ø By whispered temptations “Look at that …! Why don’t you take it?”
Ø By inflaming our passions and base instincts “ I don’t know what came over me… I just wanted to kill him!”
But calling on God – quickly causes evil to run away – like Light pushing Darkness away easily.
When we ask, God will rush to your assistance – but God has decreed that you must ask.
Sin separates us from God, but as soon as we repent and are sorry for our sin, God rushes to embrace you again.
Because the spiritual battle between good and evil is specifically, between mankind and Satan, a fallen Archangel and his fallen angels or demons, the battle is not against God Himself.
When mankind calls upon God with a spontaneous prayer, God rushes to help us against spiritual attacks, like a temptation we are struggling to resist, but when we are in union with God, as the Flame of Love brings about, then Evil is readily defeated, and ineffective.
Because Jesus was to be born from a woman, the woman needed to be free of sin, because the Divine Word could not be contained by sin. As a result the Virgin Mary is particularly free from all sin, including original sin. Basically, the devil cannot touch her, and she is to be part of the End Time battle to finally crush Evil and God has given her special gifts and power for this battle. Mary’s Flame of Love is one of these special gifts for us to use as a weapon in this battle around us and our children.
The main focus of the Flame of Love is to protect families, to make them a safe haven of peace and healing, across the world.
